High Quality Dental Crowns Done Right

In this day and age, you can't blink an eye without missing the announcement for the next "big thing." When it comes to dentistry, Dr. Joan Kirschner and her Plymouth General Dentistry team are determined to put quality over quantity for every one of their valuable patients. In the case of dental crowns, our New Hampshire office has made a conscience decision not to use  CEREC® crowns. Dr. Kirschner believes custom fitted lab produced crowns ensure that we're delivering only the highest quality crowns available. To schedule a consultation for our hand-crafted dental crowns, contact our practice today.

Today's dental crowns are designed to be virtually indistinguishable from natural teeth.

Understanding the Procedure

Dental crowns are custom-made to fit over your entire tooth or dental implant. Crowns may be constructed entirely of metal, porcelain fused to a metal base,  just porcelain or ceramic.   When Dr. Kirschner begins your dental crown treatment, she will first spend time in a one-on-one consultation with you, discussing your treatment options as well as your oral health and aesthetic goals. Whether your care plan includes only dental crowns or a combination of treatments, the pre-planning phase of your treatment is essential.

On the day of your first treatment appointment, we will prepare your teeth to receive dental crowns. Enough of your natural enamel must first be removed to make room for the crown. In some cases of severe decay or damage, your tooth must actually be built up before it can properly support a restoration. When your tooth is ready, Dr. Kirschner will make a highly detailed impression of your bite. The mold of your teeth will be sent to our trusted off-site laboratory, where our patients' ceramic restorations have been crafted with impressive artistry for many years.

When your dental crowns return to Plymouth General Dentistry, we will invite you back in to have them permanently attached to your prepared teeth. After a meticulous cleaning, we will lightly buff the surface of your tooth to optimize its bonding surface. Finally, dental cement will be applied and your dental crown will be placed. A special hardening light will help the cement set quickly and before you know it, you'll have a smile that deserves to be shown off.
